I have practiced law and mediation in western Washington since 1988. My specialty is high conflict cases, including difficult family law problems. In the first half of my career I represented clients in a broad range of civil matters, and am able to mediate or arbitrate in the areas of practice listed above.

In addition to mediating/arbitrating, I am a litigator, judge pro tem, associate of Bill Eddy’s High Conflict Institute, and clinic director for BELARI, a pro bono interdisciplinary clinic. In 2013 I obtained a Graduate Credit Certificate in Interpersonal Neurobiology from Portland State University.

Does the Presence of a Lawyer Help or Hurt the Mediation Process?

Low Bono focus group bears fruit

I am writing to give you an update on the Low Bono section formation project. Can lawyer-mediator’s write up legal documents?

In 2012, the WSBA Rules of Professional Conduct Committee issued Advisory Opinion #2223, concluding that lawyers acting as a mediator may not ethically write up a Property Settlement Agreement, Order of Child Support, or Parenting Plan for unrepresented parties.
