WSBA Alternative Dispute Resolution
Promoting Informed Use and Best Practices for ADR in Washington
March 29-30, 2013
20th Annual Northwest Dispute Resolution Conference
Each year, the Northwest Dispute Resolution Conference receives a limited amount of funding from the Washington State Bar Association Dispute Resolution Section, several Dispute Resolution Centers and other community-minded organizations to defray the cost of deserving applicants interested in attending the conference.
The Northwest Dispute Resolution Conference Planning Committee will award full or partial scholarships on the basis of need and ADR practice experience to applicants who work in non-profit or underserved settings of the profession such as legal services, community mediation and government.
All applications received by March 15, 2013, will be reviewed, and applicants will be notified about the status of their application by e-mail by March 20, 2013. Any applicant not awarded a scholarship will still be allowed to register at the early-bird registration rate.
During the review, the first ten applicants who qualify in an underserved setting (as outlined above) will be awarded a scholarship. Any remaining scholarships will be awarded to qualified applicants based on the order in which their applications were received. Priority will be given to those who have not previously received a conference scholarship.
Should additional scholarships remain, the reviewers will actively promote scholarship availability with community mediation programs, legal services providers and government entities near the conference site.
Please note: the conference materials will not be provided in hard copy. The materials may be downloaded in advance of the conference for free.
Scholarship recipients are expected to provide assistance with conference logistics during the event. Duties can include providing assistance at the registration tables each day, distribution of water bottles to classrooms for the conference speakers, directing attendees through the buffet lunch on Friday and to the Burke Museum for the Friday reception.
Please contact Kathy Kline, Conference Coordinator, if you have any questions regarding the scholarship application process. Her direct phone number is 206-543-8881. Her e-mail address is kkline@uw.edu.
