The Legislative Committee is looking for volunteers to work on a Subcommittee for consideration of Rules and accompanying Act for Collaborative Law in Washington.

Representative Jamie Pederson is apparently intent on introducing some version of the UCLA in the next Legislative Session.  The Family Law Section's Executive Committee has expressed an interest in working with us to promote discussion and consensus on a set of Rules and a companion Act.  The major concern of FLEC appears to be the lawyer disqualification provision.  They believe that the provision, as drafted, fails to adequately include many persons who may nonetheless lack resouces to hire attorneys, although not fitting the definition of low income under the proposed provisions.

A copy of a draft of proposed rules is one of the Legislative Committee pages on the right of the Legislative Committee home page:  UCLA/R Proposed Rules

Please contact me if you are willing and able to assist and work as a part of our sub-committee.
