WSBA Alternative Dispute Resolution
Promoting Informed Use and Best Practices for ADR in Washington
I am putting together a minI-CLE for our members and the general WSBA membership on using negotiation and counseling techniques to de-escalate intense emotions and potentially violent parties. I could use your input on suggestions for speakers, and any other feedback you may have.
Warm regards to all,

I have in my reference file a copy of an excellent article by Mark Mays (Ph.D, J.D., a clinical psychologist and attorney) entitled "Dealing with Difficult People" that appeared in the August 2008 Washington State Bar News. I will try to upload a copy of the article, but I am technically challenged! If the article is of interest to you, please contact me.

A friend of mine, Jackie Helfgott, chairs the Criminal Justice Dept. at Seattle U. She has recommended Lisbeth (Lis) Eddy (citsgt@gmail.com). Jackie writes: "(Lis) is a recently retired SPD sgt with CIT Unit and trainer at WA State CJ Training Commission. She consults for training on crisis intervention and hostage negotiation."
