Event Description

The Seattle University Dispute Resolution Board is seeking volunteer judges and mediators for its Mediation Competition on Friday, February 27, from 5pm to 8:30pm!

3 CLE credits are available for participating attorneys. The competition is designed to acquaint law students with advocacy skills in ADR processes, specifically mediation.  The focus of this competition is on attorney representation of clients in mediation.

Students will be judged on their advocacy skills by a panel of judges, one of whom will act as the mediator conducting the mediation. The competition consists of two rounds of mediation with different fact patterns. Students will work in teams of two; each student acting as both an attorney and a client to simulate a collaborative mediation where all parties contribute to the discussion.

If you are interested in participating, please email J. Riley Benge at bengej@seattleu.edu. All necessary information will be e-mailed to you shortly before the competition.
